Sally Bridgeland joins 300 Club
Sally Bridgeland has become the 300 club's newest and first female member.
The 300 Club, an independent group made up of investment professionals from across the globe, believes that the most recent economic and investment trends will change the investing landscape over the next two decades.
“We must act in order to protect millions of investors and the integrity of the industry. With Sally’s considerable experience in the pensions industry I know she will be a fantastic colleague,” said Lars Dijkstra, chairman of the 300 Club.
Bridgeland, perhaps best recognised as the CEO of BP Pension Trustees, is a stalwart of the UK pensions industry. In her seven-year tenure she devised, negotiated and implemented a new funding and investment strategy for the £19bn ($32bn) fund to reflect the trustees’ changing perspective on risk.
“The demands of maturing pensions funds will change considerably over the next decade and individual savers need an investment environment which they can trust for the longer term. The 300 Club is right to challenge current thinking and I hope to contribute to the debate which they have started,” said Bridgeland.
Before joining BP, Bridgeland spent 20 years at Aon Hewitt as both a pensions consultant and in the investment practice.
She is the founder of the charity Executive Shift and she is also a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, a member of the Ftse Policy Group and a court assistant of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries, chairing its education committee.
From October she will take on an additional role as senior adviser to governance consultancy Avida International.
