Storm halts trading on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange
Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the second-biggest in the Gulf Cooperation Council by market value, halted trading on Wednesday due to a severe storm.
Abu Dhabi’s headline index fell 0.9% to 4,544. before being suspended mid-morning as its communications infrastructure was hit by bad weather conditions in the capital.
All trades executed on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi have been cancelled, according to brokers.
Officials for the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange have not commented on when the bourse is expected to resume trading.
The thunderstorm brought heavy rain to parts of the desert nation disrupting flights, flooding roads and forcing authorities to close schools.
