Nick Spencer-Skeen, the former European chief of staff at broker StoneX, has resurfaced in a senior role at emerging Abu Dhabi-based broker APM Capital Limited.

Spencer-Skeen, who left StoneX after 11 years in late 2021, is now the senior executive officer of APM Capital, following his approval to assume that role by the local regulator.

Founded in May 2021, APM Capital is regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) to offer contracts for difference and listed futures across foreign exchange, commodities and equities.

The appointment marks a new direction for Spencer-Skeen who has spent most of his 40 year career working for various firms in London.

Spencer-Skeen’s departure from StoneX was mutually agreed and came after the firm completed the integration of the GAIN Capital Holdings, the online broker acquired by the group in July 2020.

Spencer-Skeen is hugely experienced having joined INTL FCStone (later rebranded as StoneX) in 2011.

Before StoneX, Spencer-Skeen was for three years the head of operations at Banca IMI, responsible for all post-trade activities at the Italian bank.

Previously, Spencer-Skeen was for seven years the head of operations at Banca Caboto, a director of client services at tech firm Rolfe & Nolan for two years, and the head of operations at ING Derivatives for six-and-a-half years.

He joined the Dutch bank in 1996 as the head of back office operations at ING Barings Futures.

Spencer-Skeen has been a huge supporter of the futures industry’s various charitable efforts, and founded, with Trading Technologies chief executive Keith Todd, the Dave Setters Trophy, which raises each year money for the Motor Neuron Disease Association
